Chilean Border - Carabineros Post
-34.25, -69.80
The day continues in the same rhythm as the one before.
On horseback, the team moves forward deeper into the Andes, following the same route carved through the mountains. Distance builds slowly, step by step, hour after hour.
The conditions begin to shift.
The temperature drops, the air gets sharper, and by midday the first snow begins to fall.
What was still accessible terrain the day before now feels different, quieter, colder, more demanding. The mountains close in and movement becomes more deliberate.
By the end of the day, the expedition reaches the Chilean border. There, at the Carabineros post, they find shelter for the night, a rare solid structure in an otherwise exposed environment.
Tomorrow, the route continues toward the Col de Maipo and if conditions allow, they will cross and reach Laguna del Diamante.
For now, the priority is simple: rest, recover, and wait for the weather to hold.
