Tupungato, Argentina

From Casa de Juan, the expedition continues on foot, following the final stretch back toward the entrance of the Laguna del Diamante National Park. After days spent in the Yaucha Canyon, the landscape begins to open again. The terrain softens slightly, but the pace remains steady, shaped by distance, fatigue, and the need to move forward.
By the end of the day, they reach the park entrance. But once again, the mountain holds.
The Maipo Pass remains closed. Snow still blocks access to the upper sections, and no crossing will be possible before April 1st. The expedition pauses not by choice, but by necessity.
They leave the mountains and head toward Tupungato, where they spend the night, waiting for conditions to improve and for the route to reopen.
The following day, with access still restricted, the approach shifts once more. Two small aircraft are arranged to fly over Laguna del Diamante and the surrounding volcanic landscape: the terrain they have been trying to reach from the ground.
From above, everything changes. The scale becomes clear. The isolation, undeniable. The route, visible in a way it never was from below. It is not the crossing they had planned but it brings them closer. By the end of the day, they return toward the park entrance, preparing for what comes next.
All eyes are now on April 1st… If the pass opens, they will move again, toward Laguna del Diamante.
